GR Optimist Club honors Youths of the Month

Glen Rose High School senior Erin Outen was recently recognized as a high school youth of the month by the Glen Rose Optimist Club.
Glen Rose High School senior Austin Worthen was recognized as a high school youth of the month by the Glen Rose Optimist Club.
Aubrey Schuelke was honored as a junior high youth of the month by the Glen Rose Optimist Club.
Cooper Davis was honored as a junior high youth of the month by the Glen Rose Optimist Club.

GLEN ROSE — The Glen Rose Optimist Club honored its Youth of the Month in a presentation held late last month at Barnard’s Mill in Glen Rose.

Seniors Erin Outen and Austin Worthen were recognized at the high school youth of the month, while Aubrey Schuelke and Cooper Davis were honored as the junior high youth of the month.

Outen currently ranks fifth in the class with an unweighted GPA of 3.86. In addition to taking dual credit and AP classes, she is the vice president of finance in the GR FCCLA Chapter. She has also served on the Lead Team at Stonewater Church for three years.

Also, she advanced to the state level in the Vet Tech CDE in FFA and the Chapter Service Project STAAR Event in FCCLA; advanced to the Region level in Science UIL event; and advanced to the Area level in the Public Relations LDE in FFA.

She will graduate with 63 dual-credit hours and plans to attend Texas A&M.

Worthen, a two-time district MVP for the Tiger football team and district newcomer of the year, was a Texas High School Coaches Association all-state honorable mention and also a two-year captain of the football team.

He has also served as a referee for Upward Basketball.

He will graduate with nine college hours and plans to attend Texas A&M.

Schuelke takes honor classes and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and participates in UIL, student council, band, yearbook and athletics (volleyball, basketball, track).

She babysits, does film for the varsity girls basketball team and coaches and refs Little Dribblers basketball.

Davis is on the A-B honor roll, and takes honors classes, including geometry. He is also a member of the National Junior Honor Society.

He also plays football, is a member of the band and does work at Stonewater Church.
