Optimist Club names Youth of the Month

Lexi Crabtree, center, was named Youth of the Month for high school by the Optimist Club of Glen Rose.

For high school for the month of February, Lexi Crabtree and Cody Halcom were named Youth of the Month at a recent meeting of the Glen Rose Optimist Club.

Crabtree is a member of student council and a practicum in education student. She has achieved academic all-state volleyball, first-team volleyball, basketball, track and tennis.

Her community involvement includes Elevate Youth Group and Stephenville Church of Christ. Her academic accolades include National Honor Society, Academic UIL, Powerful Opportunities for Women Eager and Ready for Science, engineering and technology (POWER SET), FFA and FCCLA.

She plans to attend Texas A&M and major in biomedical sciences. She will graduate

with 52 college hours.

Halcom is involved in FLO, NHS and FFA. His achievements include academic all-state honorable mention for varsity football, a three-time qualifier for powerlifting, academic all-district for baseball, English, shop, and math award during his junior year, Clyde Sexton Memorial Award, and Greenhand and Chapter degree in FFA.

His community involvement includes recycle, Alter server at church, Adopt-a-Highway, nursing home, barn tours at Fort Worth Stock Show. His academic accolades include top 25 percent, A-B Honor Roll.

He will graduate with 15 college hours and plans to attend Angelo State and major in engineering or business.
