GLEN ROSE -- The annual Glen Rose Christmas parade is returning to the historic downtown square on Saturday, Dec. 12. The parade's new director, Sarah Moss said that the parade is open to any group, business or individual who wishes to enter the parade of lights, and that floats are to meet in the Glen Rose High School parking lot in front of the auditorium by 4:30 p.m.

There is no entry fee, and unless the float needs to coordinate music to be played for a performance on the square, there is no additional required paperwork to be submitted prior to participation. If a group wishes to do a short performance upon entering the downtown square, they are asked to contact Moss at least 24 hours prior to the parade to allow her time to coordinate the parade lineup.

The lighted parade will depart from the GRHS parking lot at 5:30 p.m. and head down Stadium Dr. before turning left on Barnard. Moss said she is "hoping it will enter the square around 6 p.m."

This will be Moss' first Christmas parade to coordinate for Glen Rose, however, she is not a novice to the idea. Her first parade to organize from start to finish was last year's Fourth of July Parade.

There will be horses, dancers, music and maybe even a visit from old Saint Nick, himself, and is sure to bring out the holiday spirit in any Scrooge. Per Moss, there is to be no additional Santa impersonators, as the real Mr. Claus has informed her that he may take offense to another round man in a suit. There is also to be no throwing of candy from any floats, as the parade will take place after the sun has set and the act could be extremely dangerous to children and those involved with the parade, Moss stated.
