Squaw Valley golf tournament helps provide bikes to Somervell Children

STAFF REPORTS

GLEN ROSE - Squaw Valley Golf Course hosted its annual Big Chill golf tournament on Dec, 5 to provide local underprivileged children with a new bicycle for Christmas.

Golfers received a discounted entry fee into the day-long tournament by donating a new bicycle for children in need in Somervell County. The teams were only asked to bring one bicycle for the discounted entry, but several teams brought two and a handful of bikes were donated by citizens just for the sake of donating.

A total of 42 bikes were donated and delivered to Glen Rose Elementary School, and GRES was responsible for the distribution of the bikes.

Squaw Valley Golf Course is owned and operated by the taxpayers of Somervell County.
