We will be honoring our mothers at the Center on Friday, May 12, at 11:30 with some refreshments and there will be favors for all the mothers.

In case you missed it, we are changing our Swap & Shop from monthly to just three or four times a year. Our next Swap & Shop will be on Friday, July 21, from 8:30-2:30 and then again on November 17th. It’s just $5 for a table to sell your wares…craft items, garage sale items, baked goods, etc. Get to making your crafts or cleaning out the garage!

We are still looking for fill-in kitchen help and fill-in drivers. Apply in person at the Center, 209 SW Barnard.

Winners of last week’s Bunco tournament were Janet Stacy with the most Buncos, Caroline Abrego with the most wins and John Psencik with the most losses. Others playing were: Louise McCoy, Paula Zuniga, Tom Swaim, Betty Flanagan, Phyllis Psencik, Jackie Smith and Kenna Kay Nuckols.

Our next dance will be Friday, May 12, featuring Western Reunion.  Doors open at 6:00. $5 at the door.

Activities at the Citizen’s Center beginning May 8: Wal Mart shopping trip, Chess and Bingo on Monday, fitness group and wood carving on Tuesday; Bunco tournament, blood pressure testing by GR Nursing & Rehab and Dollar General shopping on Wednesday; Chess and local grocery shopping on Thursday and Mother’s Day celebration, Friday night dance, Bingo and local grocery shopping on Friday.

Besides the scheduled activities, there are games, puzzles, Forty Two and visiting going on every day.  Don’t see it on the calendar? Make a suggestion; we’re always looking for new ideas.

If you know anyone who may need meals, transportation, an emergency response system, medical equipment, Food Stamps (SNAP) or Food Bank applications, utility assistance applications or any other senior oriented services, please call or come by the Center.

Remember that you don’t have to be a senior to come and enjoy all of our activities or eat lunch with us. You can go to our Facebook page “Somervell Citizens’ Center” for lots of pictures and the next day’s menu and scheduled events and don’t forget to “like” our page. You can also visit our website at www.glenrosesccoa.com for menus and activity schedules. Our number is 254-897-2139.
