There's lots of activity right now at Oakdale Park, which is open to the general public — not just campers. Manager Michael Leamons announced that the opening day for the swimming pool — featuring a new diving board — is today (Thursday, May 25, with a free “splash day” from 1-7 p.m). The new playground equipment (pictured) is installed and open to the public, Leamons noted. Regular pool hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. It's closed on Mondays. Leamons said he has received training to operate a new 500-gallon propane filling station that's being built in the park. It could be ready for use by the end of June, Leamons said. Also, the project to rebuild the wall facing Northeast Barnard Street at the park is making progress. The masonry is complete, and the rest of the project should be completed within about three weeks.
