Lions present Rotan with early retirement cake

Staff Writer
Glen Rose Reporter
Glen Rose Lions President Mary Collier (right) and Vice President Deedee Jones presented Glen Rose ISD Superintendent and Lion Wayne Rotan with an "early" retirement cake Wednesday during the Lions Club's August meeting. The Lions and the community expressed their thanks to him for making the GRISD an A-plus rated district and for always thinking of the students first. Rotan previously announced he will be retiring at the end of the year. Rotan speaks to the Lions each year and describes new programs and innovations in the GRISD. This past spring and summer presented new challenges to the district because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The abrupt need to close the schools and develop an online program for all grade levels presented one set of challenges. Preparing a safe environment for schools to reopen this fall presented another set of challenges.
