GRHS hands out annual awards
Glen Rose High School teacher Kathi Ash was awarded the Keeper of the Dream Award at Senior Recognition Night last Friday night at the Glen Rose High School Auditorium.
Jesse Pruitt, a 1963 graduate of GRHS, honors one teacher who has been chosen by the student body, for his or her service above and beyond the call of duty.
Ash received a plaque and a $500 monetary gift.
Also, Jenna White and Ashlynn Perry were recognized as the valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, and Austin Worthen and Abby Stephenson were recognized as Mr. and Miss Glen Rose.
Kerry Stanton received the Heart of a Tiger Award, which is given by the GRHS staff to a senior who has shown impeccable courage, leadership, determination and faith. He received a plaque and a $500 monetary gift.
It was also announced that the Glen Rose Class of 2021 received $3.2 million in scholarships.
SCWD hosting fireworks show
The 11th Annual Somervell County Water District fireworks show will be held Sunday, July 4, at Wheeler Branch Reservoir.
Park opens at 7 a.m. with regular admission: county adults ($5), county kids ($2) and non-county adults ($10) and non-county kids ($5).
Brady Hulsey Band is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m., and the fireworks show will begin at 9:30 p.m.

County accepting entries for July 3 parade
Somervell County is now accepting entries for the July 3 parade that will begin at 9 a.m.

Read Southall Band to perform in Glen Rose
The Dr. Roger E. Marks Healthcare Foundation is hosting the Read Southall Band with Cody Canada and The Departed on Friday, July 23, at 8 p.m. at the Texas Amphitheater.

Lady Tigers honored with postseason track awards
Glen Rose junior Kylie Frush, who qualified for the UIL Class 4A state track meet in the triple jump, was named TGCA All-State, while Jocelyn Mims and Alexis Mims were named TGCA Academic All-State and THSCA Academic All-State Honorable Mention.
Jocelyn Mims was also named to the TGCA Track and Field All-State Legacy Team, the highest honor a student-athlete can receive as a senior.
