Somervell County Night at The Promise is Friday
The Promise in Glen Rose is hosting Somervell County Night where county residents get a complimentary ticket with proof of residency and canned goods for Papa’s Pantry is Friday, Sept. 3.
So Long Summer Celebration
The Glen Rose Somervell County Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting a So Long Summer Celebration on Saturday at the Square from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Attendees can shop, eat and experience Somervell County history and hospitality.
GRISD sees uptick in COVID cases
As of Aug. 24, there were only seven active cases of COVID-19 among students and staff on three Glen Rose ISD campuses. One week later, however, that number has climber to 42 with 37 new student cases at Glen Rose Junior High.
While there are more than three dozen cases at GRJH with students, there is just one staff case there, and there are two staff cases and two student cases at Glen Rose Elementary.
There are no cases at Glen Rose High School or with district personnel or district transportation.
Squaw Valley GC to host One-Man Scramble Sept. 11
Squaw Valley Golf Course will be hosting a One-Man Scramble on Sept. 11 with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
The cost is $125 per person and players must sign up by Sept. 4.
Lunch is included.
The Chishom Trail at Barnard’s Mill
The Chisholm Trail Exhibit at Barnard’s Mill, located at 307 SW Barnard Street, will run each weekend through Sept. 24, and is free to the public.
The exhibit is on loan from the Texas Lakes & Trails and highlights over 150 years of history, folklore and legacy.
It’s one Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m.
SCSO accepting applications
Somervell County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for Corrections Officer and Dispatcher.
Applications can be picked up from the Sheriff's Office or online at www.somervell.co and delivered to the Sheriff's Office.
