Connor Hansen comes up with two hits in both a home win versus Hillsboro and a road victory in Millsap.

Coming off their first loss of the season, the JV White Tigers (5-1) were locked in March 27 against visiting Hillsboro.

Glen Rose finished with more hits (9-2) and fewer errors (2-4) in a 6-0 win, as the Tigers went up 2-0 in the home third.

"We cleaned a lot of stuff up from the loss to Grandview," said coach Fred Cordova. "It took us a little while to get on the pitcher, but once we did we hit well. We ran the bases well.

"Hillsboro's JV is much improved from last year. We preached the importance of making adjustments to play like we're capable of, and we did make some improvements."

Kully Reynolds (2 singles, RBI) and Connor Hansen (2 singles) led the offense.

"Connor is seeing the ball better," Cordova said. "He found the gaps and hit it hard. I was real pleased with him.

"Connor was pretty solid in left field, and then he played first base. Codey Barker made a really good play on a ground ball. It was a clean game defensively for the most part."

Camden Reynolds connected on a double with two RBIs.

"It was good to see Camden get back to his old self and strike the ball," the coach said.

Zane Gould and Logan Thames each came away with a single and an RBI.

"Zane hit the ball well," Cordova said. "He found a gap. Logan got down 0-2, but he fouled a lot of pitches off, battled back and found a pitch he could hit. Then he beat out the throw."

Gus Stoner and Tyler Torres each hit a single.

On the mound, Camden Reynolds (4 IP, 2 H, 2 W, 1 HBP, 5 K) got the start and Stoner (2 IP, 4 K) sealed the deal.

"I thought Camden threw well, considering it was his first game to pitch," Cordova said. "He kept them off-balance. He can still work to hit his spots better, but he competed well. Gus threw strikes when he came in."

Glen Rose headed to Millsap March 30 and earned a 9-5 win, as Millsap actually scored all five runs in the home sixth of a six-inning affair.

Pitchers were Barker (5 IP, 3 H, 4 W, 6 K) and Adrian Lewis (1 IP, 6 H, 1 HBP, 1 K).

"Adrian threw strikes, and they just hit the ball well against him," Cordova said.

Hitters were Barker (double, 2 singles, 4 RBIs), Hansen (2 singles, 2 RBIs), Torres (2 singles) and Camden Reynolds (2 singles).

"I thought Barker played good defense while pitching, while Cashion (Klipfel) at third and Camden at second also made some plays," Cordova said. "We just need to learn to finish strong and be a little sharper on defense."

Glen Rose will host Rio Vista April 3 at 4 p.m.
