Lady Tigers snag softball all-district honors

Two Glen Rose High School softball players made the second-team all-District 8-4A list for 2018 and three earned honorable mention.

Senior second baseman Stormi Burns and freshman pitcher/first baseman Taylor McKenzie were the Lady Tigers named to the second team by vote of the league’s coaches.

Honorable mention went to Lady Tigers’ senior shortstop Sydney Lozier, senior Tatum Stegint and freshman Kaylee McDonald.

Coach Kiel Miller led the Lady Tigers to an 8-12 season record. They were 3-9 in district play and did not qualify for the playoffs.

Burns was second on the team in batting with a .443 average. She drove in 16 runs and scored 14 times.

McKenzie posted the Lady Tigers’ highest batting average, at .482, and on-base percentage, at .540. She drove in eight runs and had a team-leading 19 runs scored.

Lozier batted .417 and had a .509 on-base percentage while driving in 13 runs and scoring 14. She earned first-team all-district honors in 2017.

Stegint led the Lady Tigers in runs batted in, with 17, and in home runs, with three. She batted .365 and had an on-base percentage of .492.

McDonald hit .310 and drove in 11 runs. She scored nine runs and had a .355 on-base percentage.
