GRJH Lady Tigers' hoops remain undefeated after sweeping Keene
KEENE -- The Glen Rose Junior High Lady Tigers’ basketball teams are beginning to make it look too easy, and after the three-road wins on Monday against Keene all three teams remain undefeated on the season.
Glen Rose outscored Keene, 121-25, in the three games and the 7th and 8th grade A teams combined to outscore the opposition 104-19.
Kennedy Bunt led the way for the 8th A team with a game-high 14 points in the team’s 58-7 romp of Keene, while Breanna Baker added 12 points, and Alexis Drugan, Kora Dodson and Molly Beauchamp each added six points. Avery Turner and Hailey Ibarra chipped in five points of their own and Kali Matthews and Camryn Miller rounded out the Glen Rose attack with two points, each.
Eleven different Lady Tigers scored in 7th grade A team’s 46-12 win over Keene, but Presley Grace’s 12 points, that included the team’s only three pointer, led the attack. Jocelyn Mims and Clenna Elam each knocked down three shots from the field for six points, while Hannah Cantwell, Emma Lozier and Lindsay Andress all scored four points, respectively. Five other players finished with two points, and included Abby Stephenson, Abby Koerner, Brylea Foegelle, Alexia Mims and Jeana Dougleas.
In the combined 7th and 8th B team game, the Lady Tigers pulled away with a 9-2 run over the second half for the 17-6 win. For the elder squad, Bailey Boyett led all scorers with seven points, and was joined in the scoring department by Shanley Bybee and Julia Sanche’s two points, each. Three 7th graders scored two points apiece and included Taylor McKenzie, Jenna White and Lila Boyett.
GRJHS will return to action on Monday, Dec. 14 when it plays host to Brock.
