Runnin’ Tigers rout Paradise to improve to 5-0

GLEN ROSE — Glen Rose senior guard Matt Hammonds poured in a game-high 35 points and Caden Smith added 16 more in leading the Glen Rose Runnin’ Tigers to a 79-28 road victory over Paradise on Tuesday afternoon in their final game before the Thanksgiving break.

With the win, the Tigers improve to 5-0 on the season after beating Gunter 59-26 on Friday night and Granbury 63-44 on Monday afternoon at Tiger Arena.

Hammonds had it going on from downtown as he drilled six of the Tigers’ 10 3-pointers on the day.

The Tigers put the game away early as Hammonds scored 11 first-quarter points and Austin Worthen scored five and Caden Schinagel added five of his eight points in the game as Glen Rose sped out to a 25-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Glen Rose kept their foot on the offensive gas behind 11 more points from Hammonds and five from Cross Arrington, who finished with seven points in the game.

The Tigers led 45-10 at the half.

Hammonds dialed up three more 3-pointers in the third quarter en route to 11 points and Smith and Kanyon Keese added five each to build the Tiger lead to 68-22 heading into the final quarter.

Glen Rose will open a six-game homestand on Tuesday when the host Grandview with the JV tipping off at 5:45 and the varsity immediately following. They will also host Sanger on Friday and Lake Worth on Saturday.
